Endometriosis | Episode 049

Episode summary introduction:

If you are a woman, you are quite familiar with your monthly visitor. We all hate the visit, hope she’ll be nice and leave as soon as she can. For women suffering with Endometriosis, that monthly visitor is anything but nice.

Topic 1:

During a normal menstrual cycle, tissue builds up and is shed off when pregnancy doesn’t take place. Ladies with endometriosis, develop tissue that looks and acts like endometrial tissue outside of the uterus (on other reproductive organs, inside the pelvis, or in the abdominal cavity). Every month, this misplaced tissue responds to the hormonal changes during menstruation by building up and breaking down causing small bleeding inside of the pelvis. Inflammation, swelling and scarring of the normal tissue surrounding the endometriosis implants occurs because of this abnormal shedding of the endometrium tissue.

Topic 2:

Sign and Symptoms along with Risk Factors are discussed Topic 3:

Diagnosis and Treatment options are reviewed;

Ultrasound

MRI
