Roe V. Wade TEXAS | Episode 076

Episode summary introduction:

This topic of discussion is controversial. There is no doubt about it. From the church, to politics and medicine, everyone has an option. So much so that I can remember in high school and college papers, we were not allowed to write papers on this subject. The fact of the matter is, the original ruling set a precedent in 1973 that has since left so many people at odds and a difference of opinion. How can you not have an opinion on the recent Texas supreme court ruling?

Topic 1:

January 22, 1973, in which the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Texas statute banning abortion, effectively legalizing the procedure across the United States.

Topic 2:

The Texas law, Senate Bill 8, nearly completes a ban on abortion in Texas.

85 to 90% of procedures in the state happen after the sixth week of pregnancy.

Topic 3:

Thoughts and opinions of the hosts

Women’s right

Health Care

Plan B

No matter how you may feel personal about the abortion and it’s moral ramifications, as a health professional this ruling may change pregnancy, abortion and it’s “appropriate” medical care down a scary backroad alley... literally. Let’s continue this conversation and ask the hard questions. We as nurses must be informed in order to provide the best care for women with limited options.
